'Epic Cities' shortlisted for the Stanford's Children's Travel Book of the Year
I’m delighted that my second work of non-fiction, Epic Cities, has been shortlisted for Children’s Travel Book of the Year at the Edward Stanford Book Awards.
Stanfords is one of my favourite bookshops in London - I always enjoy browsing their fabulous stock of incredible travel books, which usually sparks my imagination, and makes me want to linger reading in their lovely cafe while I plot some future international adventure.
Epic Cities is a collaboration between me and the magnificent illustrator Daniel Long, whose detailed depictions of the book’s 24 cities bring them to life in rich and excruciating detail. I’m delighted that our work has been appreciated by the team at Stanfords.
Alongside Epic Cities on the shortlist are a brilliantly varied collection of books - if you like my work, I am sure you will be enthralled by at least one of these:
The Atlas of Languages by Rachel Lancashire
Otherlands by Thomas Halliday
The Lost Book of Undersea Adventure by Teddy Keen
The Girl Who Raced the World by Nat Harrison
Race to the South Pole by Alexandra Stewart
The winners are announced on March 18th 2026
